Von A.
Campbell's aviation career started in the United States Air Force where he was a
mechanic and then pilot. He flew CV-240's, C-130's, and ended his Air Force
career as a Lockheed Jetstar (VC-140) and BE-90 (VC-6) pilot in the Special Air Missions Wing at
Andrews AFB, Maryland.
After
retirement from the military in 1977, he became the Aviation Director for
Transco Energy Company in Houston, Texas.

article in Business and Commercial Aviation stated, "Transco Energy
Company's 'upward and outward mobility' is reflected in the innovative
character of its flight department, which makes extensive use of computers
in order to maintain an efficient operation.

 | In 1984,
the cover of Professional Pilot magazine was dedicated to Transco Energy
Company's flight department.

Type ratings include
L-1325 (Lockheed Jetstar), LRJet (flew both the Lear 25 and
Lear 55), and DA-20 (Falcon 20).
